Lligwy Ruins

Just a short walk from Moelfre at Lligwy are an interesting set of ruins - a neolithic burial chamber, a medieval church and Din Lligwy - an ancient fortified homestead last occupied 16 centuries ago

The following extract from www.arattagar.co.uk gives you an idea how special the Lligwy Ruins are
"........ now we come to what I think is the most spiritual place on Anglesey - Din Lligwy (Grid Ref. SH497861). It is very close to the small village of Moelfre on the northeast coast. Nowhere have I seen another place like this and the photos I had seen before did nothing to prepare me for the thrill I would find here......"

The above extract and the pictures have been published courtesy of Tim Hooker at www.arattagar.co.uk - a web site well worth a visit for not only more information and pictures on the Lligwy sites and other historic sites on Anglesey but for info on sites throughout Uk and overseas - if you are interested in ancient sites then www.arattagar.co.uk is well worth a visit

Another site for information on the history of Anglesey is :

www.anglesey-history.co.uk/places/lligwy/index.html

All three of these sites are within easy walking distance of Moelfre and well worth a visit
